Workshop Program: Assessing and Communicating Risk and Uncertainty in Parcel Boundary Location

rameriz_ros

Introduction

Every boundary survey contains risk and uncertainty in location. On a few surveys, this risk is small. On the majority of surveys, this risk can be large. On many surveys, the level or risk changes depending on the segment of the parcel boundary being resolved.

Workshop Questions

In this workshop, Landon Blake will answer the following questions:

  • How do you assess the level of risk and uncertainty in each segment of a parcel boundary?
  • What factors contribute to a higher level or risk and uncertainty?
  • How do you assess the potential level or risk in a boundary survey during the proposal phase?
  • How should uncertainty in location be handled during land transactions?
  • How can uncertainty in location be communicated to parties in a land transaction?
